📱 IPTV Smarters Pro Setup Guide 2026
A complete, step-by-step guide to installing and configuring IPTV Smarters Pro on every platform — including Xtream Codes login, M3U playlists, EPG setup, the most useful settings and fixes for the errors people hit most often.

📺 What is IPTV Smarters Pro?
IPTV Smarters Pro is one of the most widely used IPTV player apps. It does not come with any channels of its own — it is an empty player that connects to a subscription you already have from an IPTV provider. You log in once, and the app pulls in your live TV channels, video-on-demand (VOD) movies, series and program guide.
Its biggest strengths are that it runs on almost every device and that it accepts both the Xtream Codes API and plain M3U playlists. That broad compatibility is why so many providers recommend it as their default app.
🖥️ Supported platforms
| Platform | How to install |
|---|---|
| Android phone / tablet | Google Play Store — search "IPTV Smarters Pro" |
| Android TV / Google TV | Google Play Store on the TV |
| iPhone / iPad | Apple App Store |
| Apple TV (tvOS) | Apple App Store on the device |
| Amazon Fire TV Stick | Sideload with the Downloader app (see below) |
| Windows | Desktop installer from the official site |
| Mac | Desktop installer / Mac App Store |
Smart TVs (Samsung Tizen, LG webOS) cannot run this exact app; see our Samsung and LG guides for the alternatives.
Installing on Fire TV Stick (sideload)
Smarters is not always in the Amazon Appstore, so most people sideload it using the free Downloader app:
- On the Fire TV: Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → enable "Install unknown apps" for Downloader.
- Install the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore.
- Open Downloader and enter the official IPTV Smarters download address provided by the app's makers.
- Let it download, then choose Install and open the app.
We deliberately do not print a download link here — always get the file from the official Smarters website or your provider, never from a random third party.
🔑 Login methods explained
When you first open the app you will see a few options. The three you actually care about are:
| Method | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Login with Xtream Codes API | Your provider gave you a server URL, a username and a password. This is the most common and the best option — it loads live TV, VOD, series and EPG cleanly. |
| Load Your Playlist or File/URL | Your provider gave you a single long M3U link, or you have an .m3u file. Paste the URL or load the file. |
| Login with Device ID / Provider code | Some providers register your device by its built-in ID; you only paste a code. Less common. |

⚙️ First-time setup walkthrough
Option A — Xtream Codes API
- Open IPTV Smarters Pro and accept the terms.
- Tap Login with Xtream Codes API.
- Any name: a label for this account, e.g. "My IPTV".
- Username and Password: exactly as supplied by your provider.
- Server URL: the full address including port, e.g.
http://example-server.com:8080— no trailing slash, no get.php. - Tap Add User. The app verifies the account and loads your content.
Option B — M3U URL or file
- Tap Load Your Playlist or File/URL.
- Give it a name.
- Paste your full M3U link (it usually contains
get.php?username=...&password=...&type=m3u_plus), or choose a local file. - Add the user; the playlist downloads and parses.
🗓️ Setting up the EPG (program guide)
With an Xtream Codes login the program guide is usually pulled in automatically, because the EPG ships with the API. If the guide is empty, you can add an external XMLTV source:
- Open Settings → EPG.
- Choose to use the provider EPG, or add an external XMLTV URL (ending in
.xmlor.xml.gz). - Save and let it download, then refresh.
If channels still show "No information", the most common cause is a tvg-id mismatch between your playlist and the EPG. You can fix the IDs with our free M3U Editor. For the full picture see the EPG guide.
⭐ Key features
- Live TV — channel list with categories and favourites.
- VOD & Series — on-demand movies and TV series with posters, where the provider supplies them.
- Catch-up / Archive — rewind to programs from the past days (provider must support it).
- Recording — record live TV to local storage on supported platforms.
- Multi-screen — watch several channels at once (depending on version and device power).
- External players — hand a stream to MX Player, VLC or another player when the built-in player struggles.
- Parental controls — lock adult or specific categories behind a PIN.
🔧 Useful settings
- Stream Format / Player: if a channel won't play, switch the default player between the built-in player and an external one.
- Hardware decoder: turn on to reduce stutter on 4K/HEVC streams; turn off if you see a black screen with sound.
- Auto-start last channel: handy on a dedicated TV box.
- Time format & time shift: set your time zone so EPG times line up.
- Auto-clear cache: keeps the app snappy on low-storage devices.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause & fix |
|---|---|
| "Login failed" / "Invalid credentials" | Wrong username/password (watch for capitals and spaces), wrong port, or http vs https. Re-type carefully; ask your provider for the exact server URL. |
| "Playlist invalid" / nothing loads | The M3U link is wrong, expired, or returns an error page. Test it in our M3U Validator and confirm your account is active. |
| No EPG / "No information" | tvg-id mismatch or no EPG source. Add an XMLTV URL and fix IDs with the M3U Editor. |
| Buffering / freezing | Increase buffer, enable hardware decoding, switch to Ethernet, or use a faster connection. See our buffering fix guide. |
| "Max connections reached" | You are logged in on too many devices at once for your plan. Close one session or upgrade. |
| Black screen, audio only | Disable hardware decoder for that channel, or play it in an external player. |
⚔️ Smarters vs TiviMate (briefly)
IPTV Smarters Pro wins on reach: it runs on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Windows and Mac, and handles VOD and series with nice posters. It is the better pick for iPhone/iPad and Apple TV users.
TiviMate wins on the live-TV experience: a slicker TV-style EPG, smoother navigation, multi-view and DVR — but it is Android/Fire TV only and has no proper VOD library. If your device is a Fire TV or Android TV box and you mostly watch live channels, TiviMate is usually the favourite. See our full TiviMate guide and the app comparison.
